Unique Botanicals

Many of Australia's plants are found nowhere else on the planet and have evolved powerful adaptation mechanisms to store phyto-compounds needed to survive the harsh extremes of the Australian climate.

New research by 5 Star Plant Sciences Universities has discovered potent Australian Botanicals with real, proven benefits for glowing skin.

Founder's Formula uses the latest research to inform the creation of exceptional natural skin care.

Australian Snake Vine

Australian Snake Vine (Hibbertia scandens) grows only in the sand dunes of eastern Australia.

Traditionally used as an important bush medicine remedy, Snake Vine contains high concentrations of actives with proven anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Newly researched Snake Vine Extract has been shown to contain exceptionally potent anti-oxidants in the form of catechins 100 times more potent than Vitamin C and 25 times more potent than Vitamin E.

Kakadu Plum

Kakadu Plum (Terminalia ferdinandiana) is the richest source of Vitamin C of any known plant.

The insoluble fibre that remains in the extract ensures that plant elements encapsulate the Vitamin C, resulting in slowing its breakdown and extending its shelf life.

The insoluble fibres and companion calming phyto-actives also buffer the Vitamin C in the extract so that it is less irritating to the skin than synthetic forms of Vitamin C.

Waratah (Telopea speciosissima) has high levels of phyto-compounds - amines, alkaloids, adenise, anthocyanin, tryptophan, chlorogenic acid, caffeoyl-quinic acid and tarpenois - meaning in plain English - Waratah has multiple pro-aging benefits including reducing the appearance of wrinkles and calming irritation through strong anti-inflammatory action.

Australian Banksias are remarkable flowers, packed with antioxidants and glycosides that repair skin and build collagen.

Banksias are found across the Australian bush, mainly in dry, coastal areas, and have evolved powerful adaptation mechanisms to store vast quantities of the phyto-compounds needed to survive the extreme conditions of the harsh Australian climate.

At Founder's Formula we preference flowers that are wild-harvested and as such are highly potent.

Finger Lime Caviar

Native to the rainforests of east coast Australia, Finger Lime (Citrus australasica) is full of phyto-actives, including Vitamin C.

It is exceptionally high in Ferulic Acid, a powerful anti-oxidant that helps stabilise Vitamin C, which is why Finger Lime is such a perfect and potent ingredient for our Wild-Harvested Kakadu Plum Vitamin C Serum.

The Potency of Australian Botanicals

Australian plants have evolved under harsh conditions resulting in novel and concentrated actives.

As only one example, Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is well known as a powerful wound-healing plant, believed to act by strengthening connective tissue. It is used in many moisturisers, such as Baume27.

But the Australian variety of this plant - Centella cordifolia – or Swamp Pennywort - actually has far higher concentrations of the same active compounds (Madecassoside, Asiaticoside and Asiatic Acid) than does Gotu Kola.

You will find Australian Swamp Pennywort in all Founder's Formula face and body moisturisers.
